Åsa Massleberg started working with the GICHD as an Advisor in March 2011.  Her main responsibilities at the GICHD include work on transition processes, the development of national mine action strategies and linking mine action and development. 

Åsa previously worked with the Swiss Campaign to Ban Landmines’ Gender and Mine Action Programme as a Programme Officer, and as a Community Liaison Manager with Mines Advisory Group (MAG) in southern Sudan for two years, responsible for designing and implementing Mine Risk Education (MRE), Community Liaison (CL) and survey activities. She has also worked with the ICRC and the UNHCR in Sierra Leone, and with development and human rights organisations in Nepal and South Africa. Åsa's academic background includes a MA in Humanitarian Assistance from Uppsala University, Sweden and a BA in International Relations and Development Studies from Sussex University, England.
