Nathalie Piérart Membrez started working as a translator-proofreader for the Francophone programme in January 2010. Her responsabilities at GICHD include translating important English documents, Website pages and GICHD publications into French and proofreading outsourced French translations of the International Mine Actions Standards (IMAS). Nathalie has Belgian and Swiss nationality. She graduated in English-Spanish interpreting in Brussels in 1986. After this Nathalie spent two years in Barcelona as a French language assistant at the Escuela Universitaria de formación del Profesorado de EGB (Teachers training school) and teaching French and English as foreign languages in various schools. Back in Brussels, she worked as a conference interpreter for a few years. In 1997, she joined the French translation section of WIPO’s PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) Operations Division in Geneva as a technical translator, translating patent abstracts from English and Spanish into French for 12 years. In 2008, Nathalie passed the Certificat de formation continue en techniques de la communication écrite (post-graduate certificate in written communication) at Geneva University. |
