Vera has worked for the GICHD as a consultant since 2003 and became a staff member in 2006. In her function as senior expert for quality management and evaluation, she will support national programmes in setting up quality management, monitoring and evaluation systems, and she will as well be conducting evaluations of mine action programmes worldwide. Vera has degrees in media, politics and geography, following which she worked as an editor and a television journalist. Deciding to change her life and do something more meaningful, Vera took two years of technical training and work in Explosive Ordnance Disposal, and then worked as a supervisor, manager, and technical advisor in various mine action programmes around the world. Over the past years, Vera also provided technical support to disarmament conferences such as the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons and the Convention on Cluster Munitions. |
