Background
Catherine Borrero is responsible for organizing and managing conferences, meetings and other events related to the activities of the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining, including side events such as luncheons, cocktails and dinners. She deals with hotels, restaurants, travel agencies etc.
Key conferences include the International Meeting of Mine Action Programme Directors and Advisors (UNMAS); the Intersessionals on Victim Assistance, Mine Clearance and Related Technologies, Stockpile Destruction and General Status and Operation of the Mine Ban Treaty.
She is also in charge of the Sponsorship Progamme, organizing and managing accomodation and travel for official representatives receiving financial support. This programme allows all the countries who signed the Mine Ban Treaty to assist and contribute to the conferences.
Prior to joining the GICHD on February 7th, 2000, Catherine organized concerts for humanitarian purposes and went to Paris to specialise at the EFAP, Ecole Française des Attachés de Presse et Professionels de la Communication including training at several Public Relation and Press Relations agencies.
Because of her Colombian origins, she has French and Spanich as her mother tongues speaks fluent English and understands Italian.
