Elke Hottentot is the Training Coordinator within the GICHD’s Socio-Economic Unit. She is the focal point for organising and providing training for the Unit to the mine action community. Her principal responsibilities include the development and production of training materials, as well as the provision of training itself. Before joining the GICHD on May 15th 2006, Elke worked as a consultant to mine action projects in Cambodia. Prior to this, she instructed a number of university courses and worked in a wide variety of functions in community and international development. The provision of training has been an integrated part of her work for over a decade. She has worked in both rural and urban settings, including Bangladesh, Jamaica, Hong Kong, as well as the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Canada. She is fluent in Dutch and English, and has a working knowledge of French and a basic understanding of German and Khmer. She holds a M.Sc. from the Department of Community Rehabilitation and Disability Studies, University of Calgary in Canada. |
