Eric M. Filippino has headed the Socio-Economic Unit at the GICHD since February of 1999. Under this broad title he is responsible for thematic training, assessment, research and direct field support in the areas of socio-economics, Mine Risk Education, and capacity development. Eric has worked in mine action for the past 14 years and aid/refugee relief for 5 years prior to that. He has worked for both non-governmental organisations and the United Nations in numerous field positions in Africa, Central Asia, Southeast Asia and Europe.
