BackgroundFaiz Paktian joined the GICHD on 1st September 2006. His responsibilities at the Center include the continual development and review of the International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) and the associated Technical Notes for Mine Action (TNMA). Other responsibilities include the provision of operational and technical advice for the planning and implementation of EOD and anti-personnel landmine stockpile destruction Faiz Paktian has been involved in all aspects of humanitarian mine action operations and management for the last 16 years in Afghanistan, Iraq and Yemen. He worked in various positions for NGO, Commercial Organization and the United Nations. Before joining the Center, he worked as Chief Technical Advisor for UNDP Mine Action Support Programme in Yemen. He holds a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kabul and a Masters in Business and Administration from Preston University of USA. |
