BackgroundFrancisco Alberto is one of the three regional coordinators for Africa and the Middle East, with a special focus on Southern Africa. He is mainly responsible for maintaining contacts with IMSMA users within these regions. He provides technical and training support, assists with operational support for IMSMA and its integration. He also acts as the GICHD liaison officer and maintains close working relationships with IMSMA hosting nations, potential partners, regional UN agencies and NGO organisations active in mine action within the region. Until July 2007, Francisco Alberto was the Training Officer for the Information Management System for Mine Action (IMSMA) at the GICHD. Prior to joining the GICHD in January 2006, he worked with the Norwegian Peoples Aid Demining Program In Mozambique as the Task Impact Assessment (TIA) Coordinator. Francisco joined NPA in April 1995 and in the ten years he worked in the demining section of NPA he held a variety of posts including involvement in both technical demining activities and impact assessment related roles. He brings to the IMSMA team extensive field knowledge. Francisco is fluent both in English and Portuguese. |
