Gerd joined the GICHD as a translator for a 6 month mission starting in March 2008. His main tasks include translating GICHD publications and web pages from English to French, and occasionally working in other languages. Gerd graduated from the Universities of Geneva and Graz (Austria) in Russian, History and German. His subsequent studies were at HEI with a postgraduate degree in International Studies. He has regularly worked as a part-time and freelance translator, and also has some experience in the mine action world, having worked or interned for the Coalition to Ban Cluster Munitions in Vienna, the Permanent Mission of Austria in Geneva and Geneva Call. Gerd is fluent in French, German and English and has very good knowledge of Russian. |
