Iraq

The GICHD provides support to the Directorate of Mine Action (DMA), the Iraqi Kurdistan Mine Action Agency (IKMAA) and the General Directorate of Mine Action (GDMA) in the field of programme management, operations and standards. IKMAA has a seat on the International Mine Action Standards Review Board.

Management Consulting

• Comprehensive assessment of the National Mine Action Architecture
• Training on Quality Management
• Mine Risk Education (MRE) and socio economic training for Iraqi Government and UNDP
• MRE planning workshop for Iraqi programme staff
• Support on IMSMA^NG and training to Iraqi Information Management staff

Operations

• Training on contracting and mechanical demining
• Support in the implementation of land release procedures. Iraq is one of the GICHD's target countries for land release outreach activities.
• Support on stockpile destruction
• Workshop on the management and use of machines

Standards

• Assistance in the development of National Mine Action Standards (NMAS)

Arabic Language Outreach Programme

• Arabic language programme launched and first Arabic workshop held in UAE in November 2012
