United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) and the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) has the pleasure of inviting technical and operational staff from mine action programmes and mine affected countries to a technology workshop in Geneva. The aim is to discuss technical issues relevant to mine/ERW clearance. The workshop will be held at the GICHD between the 6 and 8 September 2010. The workshop follows a similar event held in 2006 and 2008, which brought together technology practitioners and specialists to share ideas and experiences. You are invited to nominate one representative from your organisation to attend.

The theme for this year’s workshop is “Merging Mine Action Technologies and Methodology”.  The agenda will be wide ranging and cover technologies and methodologies currently used operationally or technology that will be completed and fielded within the coming 12 months.

Attendees should have a profound understanding of operational and technical challenges to mine action and of clearance methods applied. Manufacturers are invited to exhibit and demonstrate their respective products during a half a day of the workshop, for which space will be provided for this purpose. The workshop will be conducted in English.
