IMSMA Mobile | Handheld for the Field

IMSMA Mobile is an optional extension to the field of IMSMANG for data collection and data verification, for use with a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA). IMSMA Mobile has been designed to save time and reduce errors in field data gathering tasks and surveys.

Any data collection form created with IMSMA can be transferred electronically for use in the handheld device. The data collected using IMSMA Mobile, including quick and accurate capture of geographic coordinates with the use of Bluetooth GPS devices, can be transferred directly into the IMSMA System. On the same basis, also by electronic transfer, any data or report previously entered into the IMSMA System can be verified and validated in the field with IMSMA Mobile.

IMSMA Mobile can also be used with several kinds of rangefinder devices, which can help define minefield or hazardous area perimeter points located up to 1000 meters away from the system's GPS or the surveyor’s current position. This means that it is possible to map the perimeter of a suspected or known hazardous area with a reduced risk to the surveyor. Rangefinder devices can be used for all technical survey reference points, Landmarks, Benchmarks and other points.

Obtaining IMSMA Mobile

The IMSMA Mobile application is provided free of charge to Mine Action authorities along with the baseline installation of IMSMANG.

Requirements for one Set

  • ArcPAD licence for each PDA (from your local ESRI Representative)
  • PDA with Bluetooth® connection (if GPS is not integrated in the Pocket PC) 
  • Windows Mobile 6
  • GPS with Bluetooth® connection (if GPS is not integrated into the Pocket PC)
  • Optional: Laser Rangefinder Binoculars with Bluetooth® connection
