Current Users of IMSMA Legacy Systems who wish to upgrade to IMSMANG should first of all contact the GICHD Information Management Team. The GICHD will then be able to start the development of a working plan.

As IMSMANG is highly customisable, upgrades require preparatory work and strategic considerations for the mine action authorities. These preparations include

  • coordination & assessment of current & future activities: surveys & resurveys, clearance, reporting, extension request, etc.
  • needs definition (for possible expansion and decentralisation of the system & all respective SOP’s
  • revision of current database in order to identify all ‘live data’ that will need to be migrated into the new System
  • catalogue of available map and satellite imagery & establishment of a country gazetteer for the customization of the fully integrated GIS
  • survey and resurvey needs for the definition of data entry field reports
  • reporting needs for the definition of data entry custom defined fields
  • list of all IMSMA users for the setup of roles and responsibilities

During this preparatory process the GICHD will work very closely with the mine action programme to meet all its needs and requirements to the best extent possible.

Hands-on training is tailored to meet local needs. It is provided in the working place at the mine action programme, ensuring a satisfying and successful transfer.
