Evaluation

Evaluation: Danish Support to Mine Action

The evaluation also aims to identify strengths and weaknesses of Danish support in light of international trends within mine action. It then makes recommendations for future activities within the framework of Denmark's development and mine action policy.

The first part of the evaluation consists of a desk study phase during which project documents, international evaluations, studies and policy papers were analysed. The second phase consists of country studies during which Danish funded mine action programmes in Afghanistan, Nicaragua, Somaliland and Laos were visited.

The purpose of the evaluation is to assess relevance, efficiency, effectiveness, impact and sustainability of Danish support to mine action since 1992. The evaluation takes into account humanitarian concerns, development issues, gender and the environment. The assessment looks at strategic coherence in relation to policies, co-ordination and operational activities at the international, national and operational levels.
