Implementation Completion Report on a Loan in the Amount of DEM 74 Million to the Republic of Croatia for a Reconstruction Project (Linking Mine Actio
The Reconstruction Project for Eastern Slavonia, Baranja and Western Srijem seeks to repair and rebuild the war-damage water sector infrastructure while mitigating the negative environmental impact likely to be caused to an adjacent nature park by the restart of local agriculture. The project consists of four components. First, the wastewater management component will complete construction of the wastewater treatment for Vinkovci and extend the wastewater collection system thereby increasing the population served from 65 percent to 85 percent. Second, the flood control and drainage component will repair Baranja flood protection system. The work consists of repairing levees and draining systems and reconstructing pump stations. Third, the clearing of landmines component will verify that all construction sites are mine-free. Fourth, the nature protection component will develop and strengthen the State Directorate for the Protection of Nature and Environment, construct facilities and provide equipment.
