Training methodology

NOKSH has completed a study on training methodology for the GICHD. The report analyses the science behind REST. It further analyses most vital aspects of the REST process and compares results from field research (Mechem and NPA). The study proposes a new REST training concept and compares results from NOKSH's experimental training and testing of dogs with results achieved by NPA and Mechem. The report gives a series of recommendations about how current techniques can be improved. The GICHD has also funded a small introductory package allowing NOKSH to visit Mechem and NPA to present the study outcome. NOKSH is now providing direct support for the NPA REST training programme in Angola. The NOKSH report has been incorporated into the MDD book (see MDD book index, chapter 2, part 2).
