The GICHD’s mechanical demining section studies ways of increasing the effectiveness of mechanical applications in humanitarian demining. The section plans and implements operational support to mine affected countries and assists UNMAS in writing the mechanical demining IMAS series. It also supports the European Committee for Standardisation in the development of CEN mechanical demining standards and provides an interface between users, research and development institutions, manufacturers, national authorities and donors of mechanical demining equipment.
