The GICHD’s mechanical demining section studies ways of increasing and improving the effectiveness of mechanical applications in humanitarian demining. The section plans, implements and conducts training and operational support to mechanical demining operators in mine affected countries. The section also assists UNMAS in writing the mechanical demining IMAS series and develops publications related to mechanical demining. It also supports testing of demining machines and provides an interface between operators, research, development institutions, manufacturers, national authorities and donors of mechanical demining equipment. During 2010 the section will focus its work on training activities and development of the new IMAS’s for mechanical demining. Latest publication | A Handbook of Mechanical Demining |
