Since 2008, the GICHD has put increased efforts into the translation of documents and publications into French.
The texts come from various sources: GICHD publications, International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) and documents from the Implementation Support Unit (ISU) of the AP Mine Ban Convention.
The Humanitarian Demining Training Centre (CPADD) of Benin also contributes to this translation effort in order to meet the needs of its trainees, mostly from African countries.
The ESAG in Angers (France; French Army Engineers and Demning Specialists Advanced Course) also contributes by ensuring the semantical and technical survey of this translation effort.
- IMAS
International Mine Action Standards are translated into French with the support of the CPADD and the ESAG and verified by the GICHD. The standards translated or updated in this process since 2008 are marked on the French IMAS Website as “New translation”.
As of 1 August 2010, 38 standards have been translated or updated. They are available online in PDF format. This process will continue in 2010 with the aim of updating the whole series of standards before the end of the year.
