Introduction to Information Management in Mine ActionThe goal of this course is to provide trainees with a basic understanding of information management and analysis tools and techniques. It is designed for staff members with responsibility for the management, oversight or direct tasking of demining operations in the field. The course includes a review of the basic principles of information management and a discussion of ways by which the benefits of information management can be successfully integrated in support of operations. This course serves as a foundation for Information Management generally, and hence also for the programmatic (Operational Activities) use of IMSMA. This course must be successfully completed by core staff in programmes preparing to transition from IMSMA V3 to IMSMA V4 prior to the deployment of IMSMA V4. This course must be completed and passed as a pre-requisite to attending the Information Management for Operations in Mine Action course. Course Duration: 1 week. More details Information Management for Operations in Mine ActionThe goal of this course is to illustrate how operations plays a role within the data gathering and verification process of an information management structure and how the information provided can in turn benefit and improve the way in which field operations are conducted. The course includes a series of practical exercises designed to prepare the participants for the introduction of IMSMA V4 into operations. This course is designed for staff members that have successfully completed the Introduction to Information Management in Mine Action course. This course does not include hands-on technical training on the use of IMSMA V4. This course is not designed for staff with an IT background nor is it relevant to system administrators, developers, data entry staff or the like. This course must be successfully completed and passed as a pre-requisite to installing IMSMA V4. Course Duration: 1 week. More details IMSMA Mine Action Information Management in Peace Support OperationsThe goal of this course is to provide trainees with a basic understanding of the role of the Information Management System for Mine Action (IMSMA) and other information management tools and techniques in mine action activities conducted in conjunction with peace keeping support operations. This course is not designed to replace the hands-on user training provided by the local IMSMA support staff at the time of deployment. The course is focused on the support services and products available in the field through the use of IMSMA. Trainees will also be provided with an overview of the reporting requirements associated with IMSMA data collection activities. Participants do not need to have existing knowledge of IMSMA or information management generally, but must be committed to active participation in the training. It is designed for the training of peacekeeping staff who are awaiting deployment on a peacekeeping mission to a country where IMSMA already is under use or may be installed. The course includes a review of the use and usefulness of IMSMA, core background presentations of concepts and explanations that should be understood when using IMSMA, exercises and simulations of different scenarios to illustrate points made in the lectures and to encourage the active participation of trainees. IMSMA User TrainingThe goal of the module is to ensure proficiency in day-to-day operations, including data entry, query, reporting, etc.. Hands-on user training is provided on-site at the time of installation or upon agreement with the Regional Support Coordinator. Topics covered are tailored to local requirements. |
