From 24 - 28 July 2006 an IMSMA workshop was held in Murten (Switzerland) with over 40 participants including representatives of various organisations (UN, NGO, US State department, FGM, SWEDEC, Kansas University, James Madison University, Ecole Superieure et d'Application du Génie d'Angers) as well as representatives of 11 Mine Action Programs from Africa, Latin America, Middle East, Arabic countries and Eastern Europe.
The aim of this conference was to share the first experiences of the deployment of IMSMA version 4 in Argentina, Burundi, Columbia and Jordan, and to make an update of the situation regarding IMSMA development and deployment until the end of 2006. The new handheld collection tool was also presented and participants were able to get a hands-on first impression.
This event took place in a wonderful environment, with nice weather and a friendly atmosphere, favourable to exchange and discussion as well as to making new friends around the world.
