In October 2006, the new IMSMA version 4 was installed in the Mine Action Program office in Bissau and the staff received the appropriate technical training.

Thanks to the CAAMI (Centro Nacional de coordenação da Acção Anti-Minas) staff members, mainly from the Operation and Database departments, and under the guidance of Francisco Alberto the GICHD IMSMA training Officer, the IMSMA version 4 was translated and is now running in Portuguese. Maps were also created and implemented. These include full coverage of the country at scales of 1/50.000, 1/250.000 as well as satellite imagery.

The GICHD/IMSMA regional coordinator handed over the official IMSMA CD for Guinea-Bissau to the Secretary of State for Veterans’ affairs, Mr. Nhassé Na Mã and the Caami director, Mr. Cesar Luis Gomez Lopes de Carvalho.
