The ZMAC IMSMA program was successfully upgraded to the latest IMSMA Version in August 2007 by Francisco Alberto.
The ZMAC is preparing to go out into the field to conduct an Impact Survey (sponsored by the Canadian and Swedish governments) and a Victim Assistance database creation exercise (funded by the Canadian and Czech governments). The VA exercise will also have an MRE component for both refugees and Zambian communities in mine contaminated areas.
Both exercises are expected to help Zambia have a more comprehensive and reliable database on which appropriate mine action programs will be based. As such, the IMSMA upgrade was timely and will go a long way in ensuring that all collected data will be collected, stored and analyzed well.
