Based on the 2004 GICHD Study of Mechanical Application in Demining, the bi-annual publication of the Mechanical Demining and Equipment catalogue and ongoing field visits, research and international standards work, the GICHD Mechanical Application Section offers a wide range of advisory services:
These broad areas encompass a great deal of subject matter, such as establishing the balance between machines and other assets; selection of machines; information management; operational planning; logistics; maintenance regimes; machine characteristics, and clearance, as well as area reduction; technical survey; risk; quality assurance and quality control. The GICHD can develop and deliver tailored advisory services on the full range of subjects, both in theory and practice. The section prefers to visit a specific country to work with mechanical practitioners and operations managers in the field. We recommend discussing machine integration, selection and accreditation with the GICHD at an early stage before purchase. Associated Readings
