The GICHD has completed a study of liability and insurance in mine action, during which legal and public liability issues and insurance were examined. The study was undertaken in cooperation with the Swiss Institute for Comparative Law, and involved three small-scale country studies that focus on how liabilities are dealt with, a subject closely linked to the process of releasing land. The new Guide to Liability and Insurance in Mine Action is now available for order or download via the GICHD website. In 2012 and 2013, the GICHD will undertake further studies and research on liability in mine action. The GICHD provides liability and insurance training, both as a part of the contracting training course, and as a specific, targeted training course and workshop, where liability and insurance is the main topic. In 2013 there will be a liability and insurance workshop at the GICHD. Liability and insurance training will also be offered to national mine action authorities on request. |
