Carrying out evaluations is a means of ensuring that projects and programmes are fulfilling their objectives. Since the beginning, the GICHD has carried out annual evaluations on a variety of mine action topics. Currently, the GICHD is developing a standard methodology for mine action evaluations and building up its in-house capacity to continue undertaking evaluations, which include reviews of

  • donor government policies;
  • national mine action programmes;
  • UN programmes and projects;

as well as

  • donor-requested evaluations of funded projects;
  • technical evaluations of equipment, procedures, systems, etc;
  • monitoring projects; and
  • ongoing monitoring and assistance.
