Anna Shum

Programme Officer, Ammunition Management Advisory Team (AMAT)

Anna Shum joined the Ammunition Management Advisory Team (AMAT) in September 2021. As a Programme Officer, she leads on the area of work exploring the linkages between through-life ammunition management, arms control and international humanitarian law. Her responsibilities include support to multilateral debates focusing on through-life ammunition management and providing timely analysis and support to the UN SaferGuard Programme. Anna also works closely with the AMAT team in providing strategic advice and technical services related to through-life ammunition management to States, with a focus on Eastern Europe.

Prior to joining the GICHD, Anna Shum completed a legal research internship with the Arms and Conduct of Hostilities Unit of the Legal Division at the ICRC. She also did a traineeship with the Parliament of Ukraine and worked for a political consulting company in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Anna holds LL.B. from the University of Westminster and LL.M. in International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights from the Geneva Academy.
