Laurence Clarke joined the GICHD in April 2010. As the Human Resources Manager, her role includes supporting the managers in recruitment and selection processes and in all aspects of staff management and development, as well as coordinating the administration of the employment contracts and the payroll. She also provides advice on the legal aspects of contracting and employment relations, on the implementation of staff regulations and on the development of policies, processes and tools for managing staff.
She is also a member of the Gender & Diversity Working Group, promoting gender and diversity mainstreaming in the GICHD.
Prior to joining the GICHD, Laurence Clarke worked in various Human Resources roles for the Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in Geneva, the Swiss Foundation for Mine Action (FSD) and the Office of the High Representative in Sarajevo. After studying socio-economics, she worked initially in administrative functions for French and American groups in the private sector, before joining the humanitarian and development world. Laurence Clarke is Swiss, born and educated in Fribourg.
