Radwa Rabie joined the GICHD in February 2019 as an Advisor for Capacity Development for National Mine Action Standards (NMAS) and Compliance. She promotes and supports improved NMAS and supports national authorities and stakeholders in ensuring their NMAS are compliant with the International Mine Action Standards and the industry’s best practices. As a member of the Strategies and Standards Division, Radwa collaborates with other divisions within the GICHD to ensure that Land Release, Risk Management, Quality Management, and other aspects of IMAS are well integrated within national programs. Prior to joining GICHD, Radwa implemented and headed Mine Action and Armed Violence Reduction Programs in Libya, Tunisia and Afghanistan with DRC-DDG (2013-2018), and in the Middle East with MAG (2018). Previously she also worked for the UN-Habitat, CRS and CARE for their programs in Egypt and the MENA region (2007-2012) and her portfolio focused on Protection and Humanitarian Response, Capacity Building, and Strategic Planning. Radwa holds a joint MA degree in Sociology from the University of Freiburg (Germany) and Kwazulu Natal (South Africa) and a BSc. in Political Science and Economics from Cairo University (Egypt). She holds an EOD-2 qualification.
