Rory Logan joined the GICHD in September 2015, he currently works as Secretary of the International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) Review Board and Advisor IHL and Policy. As the IMAS Secretary his responsibilities include the coordination and management of the process through which the IMAS framework is maintained and developed, a function which is implemented in close coordination with the United Nations Mine Action Service and the wider IMAS Review Board.
In addition to this he provides expert advice to states parties and the wider mine action sector on the interrelationship between IMAS and relevant international conventions (Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention, Convention on Cluster Munitions, Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons).
Prior to joining the GICHD, Rory managed mine action and weapons and ammunition management operations in South Sudan and Lebanon for NPA (2013-2015), and Somalia (Somaliland), Mozambique, Cambodia, Georgia and Angola for HALO Trust (2008-2013).
Rory has a MA in Peacebuilding from Coventry University and a BA (hons) in Geography from The University of Manchester.
