UNMAS requested the GICHD to establish an electronic database of accidents and incidents involving field employees at the workplace. GICHD has therefore designed the Reporting, Analysis, and Prevention of Incidents in Demining (RAPID) database.
RAPID’s main purpose is to lead to work practice changes and the development of safer tools and protective equipment in order to prevent future accidents. In its comprehensive and institutionalized approach it is unique, and different from existing databases.
GICHD manages this database and requests cooperation from all programmes, and, where applicable, the demining organisations, to report their accidents/incidents information to the GICHD using the relevant excel file that can be found on www.mineactionstandards.org/rapid/about-rapid/.
The excel file should then be sent to rapid(at)gichd.org.
If you have any questions or require more information on the project, please do not hesitate to contact us at rapid(at)gichd.org.
