Thursday 15 February, 1.30pm, room XXII
To meet the SDGs, new stakeholders such as the private sector, philanthropic institutions and trusts, are expected to scale up their involvement. The SDGs also offer a shared narrative and objectives that both development actors and the private sector understand and can commit to. Demonstrating their contributions to achieving the SDGs, it is up to mine action stakeholders to seize this opportunity to engage with non-traditional partners.
This side-event will discuss past and current innovative partnerships in mine action to engage new stakeholders. It will also examine how the SDGs may be used by mine action stakeholders effectively to boost collaborations with the private sector or philanthropic institutions more systematically and what it may take to do so successfully.
