In 2006, a GICHD study found that synergies between the small arms and the mine action sectors had been limited.

This report assesses the situation a decade later, and finds that there has been increased interaction between the two areas of work at the conceptual and operational levels. It discusses the implications of the observed changes in policies and programmes for the protection of civilians from conventional weapon threats in post-conflict and protracted conflict contexts.
