During the period 18-20 June, United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) and the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) will host a Mine Action Technology Workshop in Pretoria, South Africa.
The event will bring together over 80 scientists, manufacturers, researchers as well as operators from all over the word to discuss mine action technology. The workshop consists of two days with theoretical presentations and one day in the field with demonstrations of armored vehicles, detection systems and various destruction methods.
The aim of the meeting is to gather mine action professionals to discuss and share ideas and experiences that promote efficient use of technology in mine action. The special theme for this year’s workshop will be “Technology in support of mine action” and will include presentations from a diverse group mine action authorities, UN and international organisations, operators, manufacturers and individual experts.
Applicants will be informed if they have been accepted or not, no later than 2 June 2014.

A committee will review all applications and inform the applicant as soon as possible whether the applicant has been successful or not.
Sponsorship may cover the following fees :
*please note that only the fee for the visa will be reimbursed. Additional fees such as transportation and accommodation to pick up visa will not be covered.
Unfortunately, UNMAS/GICHD is not in a position to offer per diems to sponsored participants. If a per diem is needed, this must be done via the applicant’s own organisation or through an external sponsor.
