The Presidency of the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention (APMBC), Austria, and the Presidency of the Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM), Germany, with the support of their respective ISUs and the GICHD are organizing and event on the Universalization of Land Release.
Date: 7 June, 2017

The event will provide information on key principles of land release and look at some practical examples of land release application and their positive implications on the development of mine action programmes.
It will provide a platform for those involved in this process to share success stories, good practices and to demonstrate the impact and importance of the International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) on land release on their national demining programmes and their efforts to implement their respective Convention commitments.
The event will be split into two sessions:
Session 1: Will set the scene and develop a shared understanding of this approach by providing an overview of Land Release principles as promoted by both the IMAS and the Conventions.
Session 2: A Q&A session to enable discussions among participants working in the operational side of land release. Three affected countries and one donor country will be part of this panel, which will be led by a moderator from the GICHD.
