Elisabeth Vinek joined the GICHD in March 2013 and currently holds the position of Information Management Support Coordinator. She is responsible for coordinating the organisational and technical support provided by the Information Management division. This covers the implementation of information management capacity building services, including workshops, courses and onsite support. She also provides advisory services and capacity development to mine action programmes, in particular to certain francophone countries, and she maintains and supports MINT, the Mine Action Intelligence Tool. She was previously the IMSMA Systems Development Advisor, coordinating the development cycle of the IMSMA system, and Data Analysis Advisor, providing technical support and capacity development in database administration, business intelligence and advanced reporting solutions for IMSMA.
Prior to joining the GICHD, Elisabeth Vinek worked as a data warehouse developer, project coordinator and consultant. She gained experience in various projects in the educational and financial sectors. She also spent three years at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, working on a large-scale, distributed database system and conducting applied research in this area.
Elisabeth Vinek holds a Masters and a PhD degree in Computer Science from the University of Vienna, Austria.
