Maria Gurova joined GICHD in August 2017 as Junior Programme Officer in the Regional Cooperation Programme. Her role is to assist in planning and preparation of workshops, seminars and conferences organised by the RCP. Maria Gurova contributes to the preparation of website and training material, in English and Russian. She also assists in overseeing the translation of Mine Action materials, and validates the quality of translated documents from English to Russian and vice versa.
Prior to joining GICHD, Maria Gurova was working for several UN agencies, including International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva where she conducted research in national broadband policies and took part in preparation of various events with Russian speaking representatives. She also worked as programme coordinator in Moscow based think-tank Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) where she managed project on Russia-US cyber dialogue and was part of the editorial board.
Maria Gurova has a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Moscow State University of International Relations (MGIMO) and a double Master’s degree in International Public Management (European Affairs) and International Security from Institut d’études politiques de Paris (SciencesPo) and MGIMO.
