Vanessa Di Giorgi joined GICHD in August 2017 as Junior Programme Officer. She supports the Advisors and the Head of the Strategies and Standards Division in managing a variety of projects. This includes thematic policy research, support in project cycle management, assisting and undertaking missions and the preparation of toolkits, trainings and workshops. Vanessa Di Giorgi also assists in maintaining the IMAS website, compiling feedback of the IMAS review board and updating the RAPID database.
Prior to joining GICHD, Vanessa Di Giorgi interned in the Child Protection Unit at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, focusing particularly on protection issues for refugee youth. She has been a volunteer at the Swiss Red Cross for several years, assisting young refugees with social and cultural integration. As an intern at the Swiss Embassy to the United Kingdom in London she provided support to the Political, Legal and Communications Team and focused on numerous policy topics including social, political and economic developments in the UK and other regions.
Vanessa Di Giorgi holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs with a focus on conflict and peacebuilding from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Social Anthropology from the University of Zurich. She has also studied at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in Boston where she concentrated on conflict resolution and mediation issues.
