This inception workshop will bring together management and operational staff from the Centre for Humanitarian Demining and Expertise (CHDE) and the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) to review the existing National Mine Action Standards (NMAS) on Mechanical Demining and define the scope and priorities for their revision.

The workshop will focus on strengthening operational processes related to mechanical technical survey and clearance, ensuring that national standards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) reflect current best practices and operational realities.

Through collaborative discussions and practical mapping exercises, participants will analyse planning, tasking, prioritization, quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC), and information management requirements. The workshop will also emphasize the importance of collecting and analysing machine performance, safety, and efficiency data to improve evidence-based decision-making in land release operations.

Aim

The aim of the workshop is to:

  • Review the existing NMAS on mechanical demining and define a clear and practical scope for revision.

  • Strengthen operational processes for mechanical technical survey and clearance.

  • Enhance institutional capacity in planning, prioritization, QA/QC, and information management.

  • Promote data-driven performance analysis to improve safety, efficiency, and overall effectiveness of land release operations in Armenia.

What you will learn?

Learning Objectives
