The course “Introduction to Risk Management in Support of Ammunition Safety Management” provides a foundational understanding of risk management principles as applied to the safe storage, handling, transportation, and lifecycle management of ammunition. Aligned with NATO policies, doctrines, and relevant Allied Ammunition Safety standards, the course introduces a structured, systematic approach to identifying hazards, assessing risks, and implementing control measures. It emphasizes the integration of risk management into command decision-making and daily ammunition-related activities to ensure safety, operational effectiveness, and compliance with internationally recognized best practices.
Aim
The course aims to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to identify, assess, control, and manage risks associated with ammunition and explosives throughout the life cycle within the ammunition safety management context and in accordance with NATO standards and international good practices.

Who should attend?
Military personnel serving in the following roles: ammunition and explosive ordnance management, safety, logistics, and engineering, command and staff roles overseeing ammunition depots, transport, and disposal activities, representatives of military training, education and defense research institutions. No prior formal training in risk management is required.

The course will apply a mixture of lectures and activities. The training modules will be delivered via a blend of:

- Group exercises focused on mapping of the processes, roles, and regulatory frameworks.
