Mine Action and Global Agendas Course

In recent years, the multidimensional impact of mine action has been increasingly acknowledged and the call to assess connections between mine action and global agendas has grown. This training aims to increase knowledge and understanding on the relevance of these agendas on the work of mine action, with a particular focus on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (2030 Agenda).

The 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) serve as a common platform for policy development, planning, implementation, financing, and reporting on progress towards sustainable development. The SDGs offer a framework that allows mine action to be part of a broader theory of change by directly linking the impact of mine action with progress towards the 2030 Agenda.

The workshop will introduce the different global agendas and approaches relevant to mine action and explore their conceptual linkages as well as how practical connections can be made to the work of the sector. It will highlight real examples of mine action’s diverse impact and contributions with a view to increase understanding on how these agendas may provide strategic and operational guidance for the sector.

Останніми роками дедалі більше визнають багатовимірний вплив протимінної діяльності, а потреба у визначенні характеру зв’язків між протимінною діяльністю та глобальним планом дій зростає. Мета цього навчального курсу — підвищення рівня знань і розуміння важливості цих планів дій для протимінної діяльності з особливою увагою до Плану дій у сфері сталого розвитку до 2030 року (План дій 2030).

План дій 2030 і визначені ним Цілі сталого розвитку (ЦСР) служать спільною платформою для розробки політики, планування, впровадження, фінансування та звітування про прогрес у досягненні сталого розвитку. Цілі сталого розвитку пропонують межі, у яких протимінна діяльність може бути частиною ширшого процесу змін через безпосередній зв’язок наслідків протимінної діяльності з прогресом у реалізації завдань План дій 2030.

Aim

This training course will aim to increase knowledge and understanding of relevant global agendas, with an emphasis on the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs. The course will explore how these agendas can impact the work of mine action and aim to build national capacity to mainstream SDGs in mine action and vice versa, with the aim of enabling synergies for the sector to work in a more sustainable way.

Цей навчальний курс буде покликаний підвищити рівень знань і розуміння відповідних глобальних планів дій, передусім Плану дій 2030 і передбачених ним ЦСР. Учасники курсу досліджуватимуть, як ці плани дій можуть вплинути на протимінну діяльність, і працюватимуть на розбудову національного потенціалу інтеграції ЦСР у протимінну діяльність і навпаки, щоб уможливити синергію, яка б дозволила сектору працювати більш стало.

What you will learn?

The course will enable participants to:

• Generate knowledge and awareness regarding the relevance of different global agendas for mine action
• Increase knowledge and understanding of the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs and how they are linked to mine action
• Promote a sustainable development/SDG-centred perspective in mine action efforts
• Build and develop national capacity in integrating mine action and the SDGs
• Enable the mine action sector to work in a more in a more sustainable, efficient, and effective manner by building concrete synergies between mine action and other sector

Who should attend?

The training is suitable for mid to senior management staff from national mine action authorities and centres, mine action operators, and commercial operators. Representatives from government departments working in humanitarian, development or peace-related fields, or relevant NGOs or civil society organisations would also benefit from this training.

Certain departments or areas of work may be particularly applicable for this training, including – but not limited to – policy and strategic planning, information management, monitoring and evaluation, reporting, and donor relations and engagement.
