The Sustainable Development Outcomes of Mine Action: The Case of the Korea-Vietnam Peace Village Project

The Korea Viet Nam Peace Village Project (KVPVP) offers a new, integrated approach to these challenges. Funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agenda (KOICA) and implemented  by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with the Viet Nam National Mine Action Centre (VNMAC), the project combines mine action (including land release, risk education, and victim assistance) with development activities such as:
• The provision of climate-resilient housing for communities living in areas at risk of climate hazards following land release.
• The construction and renovation of commune health stations to improve access to health services for affected communities.
• The provision of climate-smart agricultural models and training following land release.
By linking these efforts, the project helps communities safely use land, access services, and improve their economic opportunities.
