Mine Action Standards are the foundation of safe, efficient, and effective mine action, protecting the lives of both mine action professionals and affected people. At the national level, standards explain how an explosive ordnance (EO)-affected State manages, regulates, and oversees mine action activities. Guided by the International Mine Action Standards (IMAS), which provide the global framework for mine action, governments adapt standards to their own contexts, taking into account terrain, contamination patterns, socio-economic conditions, legislation, institutional capacity, and environmental considerations, as well as the needs of victims, survivors, and affected communities.
