Advisor, Gender, Diversity Equality & Inclusion

Inclusive Risk Reduction

Jean Munro joined the GICHD in February 2025 as Advisor on Gender, Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion (GDEI). In this role, she advises national authorities and partners on integrating inclusive approaches into mine action, ensuring that policies, tools, and methodologies respond to diverse needs and operational contexts. She supports the development and coordination of GICHD’s thematic programming, fostering collaboration across divisions to embed good practice and innovation. Jean also designs and facilitates training programs and workshops—both remotely and in-country—to build capacity and embed technical guidance into practice. She represents the GICHD in global forums, delivering presentations and facilitating policy dialogues to influence standards and promote cross-sectoral learning.

Before joining the GICHD, Jean built over twenty years of experience in senior advisory and management positions with organizations such as Gavi, UNESCO, and UNDP. She has led gender equality and inclusion strategies in humanitarian and development contexts across Africa and Asia. Her work is recognized for shaping policy, driving impactful campaigns, and developing training initiatives that challenge stereotypes and strengthen women’s leadership.

Jean brings a strong academic background to her work, holding two master’s degrees: one in Adult Learning and Global Change from the University of British Columbia and another in Rural Planning and International Development from the University of Guelph.  Originally from Canada, she has lived and worked across Africa, Asia, and Europe.
