Research, Innovation, Standards and Operations (RISO)
Naem Jaafar joined the GICHD as a Standards and Operations Advisor in November 2025. In this role, he provides systemic and technical advisory support to partners by addressing operational needs and supporting the development, application, and continuous improvement of standards, policies, tools, and operational methodologies. He leads and coordinates standards- and operations-focused thematic work, manages assigned projects, training and contributes to assessments, applied research, Results-Based Management (RBM), and system development.
Prior to joining GICHD, Naem Jaafar accumulated nearly 19 years of experience in humanitarian mine action across Iraq, Angola, and Lebanon, most recently as Senior Technical Field Manager with Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA). His work focused on leading land release operations; developing SOPs and quality management systems aligned with IMAS and national standards; and strengthening programme performance through operational planning, monitoring, and senior management roles.
Naem Jaafar is EOD Level 3+ certified and has completed a range of professional training programmes, including project management, operations management, and quality management.
