Igor Karpachev joined the GICHD in April 2025 and holds the position of Advisor in the Research and Innovation Programme. In this role, he acts as Innovation Advisor focusing on identifying needs, innovative technologies and methods in mine action and ammunition management as well as conducting market research and assessing investment opportunities fostering humanitarian innovation.

Prior to joining the GICHD, Igor Karpachev held senior leadership roles in business development, digital transformation, and innovation strategy for over two decades across Europe, Africa, and Asia. At IMD Business School in Lausanne, he built and scaled a global entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem, developed strategic partnerships, and led digital collaboration initiatives. His earlier experience includes executive roles at YooMee Mobile, Naspers Group, and Deloitte Consulting, as well as founding and scaling tech and logistics ventures.

Igor Karpachev holds an MBA in Strategy and Entrepreneurship from INSEAD, France, and a Master’s in Computer Systems Management from Creighton University, USA. He is PMP and Agile certified, with additional training in business model innovation, customer experience, and AI for business professionals
