Ammunition management advisory team

Tjark Thiele joined the GICHD in October 2025 as Ammunition Management and IEDD Advisor within AMAT. In this role he will lead and support humanitarian IED response and ammunition management projects through technical assistance, contributions to innovation in mine action, and support to CCW-related processes, in collaboration with partners and other GICHD divisions.

Tjark is a lieutenant-colonel in the German Armed Forces and on secondment to the GICHD until September 2028. He has 12 years of experience in countering improvised explosive devices and explosive ordnance disposal in different roles, including a three-year secondment to the UNMAS IED Threat Mitigation Advisory Team.
