Ammunition management advisory team

Melanie Negrete Velasco joined the Ammunition Management Advisory Team (AMAT) in September 2020. As Advisor, her key responsibilities include acting as regional focal point for Latin America and coordinating ammunition management assistance to states, such as Peru and Moldova, where she facilitates collaboration with national authorities and partners, and oversees the planning and monitoring of AMAT projects. Additionally, she manages the Ammunition Management Activity Platform (A-MAP), an online tool for tracking global ammunition management activities.

Prior to joining the GICHD, Melanie completed an internship as Attachée at the Embassy of Switzerland in Kazakhstan. Melanie holds a master’s degree in International Affairs from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID) and a Licentiate in International Relations from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). In the framework of her Licentiate thesis on the Russian influence on the Syrian proxy war, she studied one semester at the Moscow State University (MSU).
