This 4 April, the International Day of Mine Awareness, will be marked by the GICHD in Geneva, New York and selected other cities around the world.

Life of Mine is a photo exhibition that gives mine action a human face. Through a compelling series of photos and selection of videos, this multimedia exhibition sheds a light on the people whose lives have been impacted by explosive hazards and those who dedicate their lives to eliminate them. The inauguration of this exhibition will be held in Geneva on 4 April from 13h30-14h30 at the Rotonde du Mont Blanc. No registration required. It will be on display in Geneva until 5 May as well as at over 15 Swiss Embassies around the world throughout the month.

At the United Nations in New York, the GICHD is proud to partner with the United Nations Mine Action Service in the exhibition "UN Mine Action Promotes: Sustainable Development Goals, Safe Ground, Safe Home" at the UN Visitors’ Centre from 4 April-20 May. “Home After War” is a virtual reality experience produced in cooperation with the GICHD, NowHere Media and Oculus VR for Good Creators Lab. This VR experience tells the story of Ahmaied, an Iraqi father who returns to his home in Fallujah, Iraq, only to confront the fear that improvised explosive devices might have been left behind in his home or community. “Home After War” will be on display as part of the “Safe Ground, Safe Home” exhibit as an interactive, multisensorial installation.
