Standards and Operations
Boris Ohanyan joined the GICHD in 2021 as a Junior Programme Officer within the Strategies, Performance and Impact Division for one year. Currently, as a Programme Officer, he supports the GICHD’s Research and Innovation Programme, focusing on initiatives related to research and innovation and methods that improve the delivery of Explosive Ordnance Risk Reduction (EORR) operations. He also provides assistance in project cycle management.
In his previous role as a Programme Officer in the External Relations, Policy and Cooperation Programme at the GICHD, Boris supported the Centre’s research, training, policy and outreach efforts on integrating the EORR and broader agendas and approaches (such as the Sustainable Development Goals and Triple Nexus). Boris also supported the GICHD’s involvement and contribution to relevant conventions (APMBC, CCM, and CCW) and policy initiatives related to the International Humanitarian Law, Disarmament, and Human Rights.
Prior to joining the GICHD, Boris Ohanyan worked for the Ministry of Justice of Armenia, worked as a lawyer in a law firm, interned with several NGOs and international organisations in Geneva, and worked as a programme coordinator at the University of Geneva.
Boris Ohanyan holds an LL.M. from the American University of Armenia, an MA in International Law from the Graduate Institute of Geneva (IHEID) and MAS in European and International Governance from the University of Geneva.
